Getting started and onboarding

Set up your first business, defaults, and account structure.

Create your first business

Use onboarding to select business type, fiscal year start, and chart-of-accounts defaults. If you skip fields, you can complete them later in Settings.

Choose the right business type template

Pick the template closest to your day-to-day work. The template only controls initial account suggestions and can be customized later.

Switch between businesses

Use the business switcher in the top bar. All lists, reports, and totals are scoped to the active business.

Keep expense and income categorization consistent over time.

Understand chart of accounts categories

Revenue accounts track money in. Expense accounts track costs. Asset and liability accounts support cash, receivables, payables, and cards.

Categorize expenses with confidence

Use smart suggestions as a starting point, then confirm or change before saving. Suggestions never persist values until you submit the form.

Use saved reconciliation rules

In Reconciliation, create rules like description contains 'NETFLIX' to suggest a category. You can review and apply the suggestion before creating the expense.

Invoices, reminders, and late fees

Create invoices, collect payment, and follow up on overdue balances.

Invoice lifecycle from draft to paid

Draft invoices become sent when you send them manually or through bulk send. Payments update status and outstanding amounts automatically.

Send reminders to overdue clients

Use invoice-level reminders or bulk reminder actions for selected sent/overdue invoices with eligible client emails.

Configure late fee behavior

Set late-fee defaults in Settings and review reminders before sending so clients receive consistent, policy-aligned follow-ups.

Time tracking and project workflows

Track billable work and analyze project performance.

Track time with timer or manual entry

Use the live timer for active work and manual entries for backfilling. Include client, project, rate, and notes for cleaner billing records.

Review project-level billable totals

Open Projects to see total time, billable amount, status, and budgets. Project detail pages show linked time entries and summary metrics.

Use bulk actions on time entries

Select multiple entries and mark them billed in one step to reduce repetitive updates before invoicing.

Reports, taxes, and exports

Understand financial outputs and prepare records for filing.

Run the core financial reports

Use profit and loss, balance sheet, and supplemental reports from the Reports area. Forecast pages show cash outlook assumptions and projections.

Prepare for quarterly and annual tax work

Keep expense categories and tax mappings clean during the year to reduce end-of-period cleanup and improve estimate accuracy.

Export data and backups

Use settings/data export tools for CSV and backup packages when sharing records with an accountant or migrating systems.

Manage access, subscriptions, and external services.

Secure your account access

Enable MFA, keep recovery options current, and use strong unique passwords for owner/admin users.

Choose and manage your billing plan

Billing supports subscribe, upgrade with proration, and downgrade-at-renewal flows. Plan limits control business count.

Configure Stripe and email integrations

Set Stripe keys and price IDs for checkout and payment features. Configure SMTP to send invoice and reminder emails reliably.
